🌄🚴 Little Ride On the Prairie - Ma...

It's close to time for the best ride of the year, the Prairie ride!

This is a 92 mile, 9,000 feet of climbing trek through some remote areas along the South fork of the Boise river.

...If 92 miles and 9,000 feet of climbing hasn't sunk in yet, please take some time and consider that. That's about equivalent to climbing Bogus twice. And then doing the dump loop. And finishing the ride at the dam. Expect a moving time of >7 hours.

Expect hard climbs, ruts, washboards, and the best views to offer within 60 miles of Boise. We'll have a support vehicle as well with water, gatorade, beverages, and whatever snacks you'd like to bring along for the ride.

Matt Bixby has also graciously volunteered to host an afterparty at his house afterwards! Burgers and beer, is there a better way to end a ride?

Ride Start: Spring Creek Clubhouse, May 2nd, 7 AM

if you DO plan on attending, please leave a comment. Please note your desired pace as well. It's a big day so I don't suspect we will have an A group cruising 20+, but if we have high attendance it might be wise of us to split in half.

Restating the important:

I hope to be there, thanks for organizing! last year it was 7.5 hrs moving time for me, so that kinda pace. 3 or 4 burgers after would be perfect.

Well I'll be there. Not that that is unexpected seeing as I am @MattBixby's son. But count me as one.

I plan on going, sounds like fun!  Peter

Hi Bryce, Sorry for the late notice - I’m planning to join. Thanks

Thanks so much for organizing, and thanks to all the saggers! Great ride, felt totally different from last year lol

I will be there on Saturday. Very excited for this ride! I’m looking at past gravel rides I’ve done at about 13mph average with this kind of elevation.

Just a couple more details as a few have asked...

I'll have 2 coolers in the sag wagon, one with water, gatorade, and coke, and the other full of refreshments. I've got a small variety of junk food to bring along (pringles, donuts, fruit snacks, etc.) but I would recommend everyone bring along some food and your favorite drink mix for the ride. You can of course put it in the sag car so you don't have to carry it all day.

Weather is shaping up to be beautiful... It will be an excellent day!

I would like to attend if I'm up to the fitness level required. Last Saturday, I rode 33 miles with 5000 feet of climbing on an xc mtb in 3.5 hours of moving time on a mix of single track, gravel roads and paved roads, which is only 9.4 mph, but more elevation gain per mile. It was not especially strenuous and I was not that sore the next day, when I went on an hour long 10.5 mile road ride on the same bike with 1700 feet of climbing. Thoughts?

The more the merrier Adam! It’ll be a tough day for all of us but if you feel like you’ve had enough punishment you can always throw your bike on rack and give hand-ups from the sag car.

Awesome! Count me in!
