Dirty EHB - Columbus Day 10/13, 0930
Author Last Post
The EHB ride is a GO!  0930 at the big bend on Willow Creek (where the pavement used to end).    Some showers in Emmett this morning but should be gone by the time we roll.  We can stay on pavement in town if necessary.

Conflicting weather forecasts, Kody the Wx guy is predicting showers tomorrow. Weather underground shows a slight chance of showers early but pretty much gone by 1000.

I will wait until tomorrow morning when I can look at the latest forecasts and radar to decide whether to cancel or not. I will post a go/no go message no later than 0730.

Some of us are going to do the Eagle/Emmett/Horseshoe Bend ride on Oct 13. Route is about 51 miles, 4400’ and 50/50 paved vs gravel.

The early birds and other LAC gravel riders have done variations of this route a few times, this ride is intended for some of us earlier vintage riders, along with those newer to gravel too. No drop ride. Our younger faster gravel riders are welcomed to join in as long as you don’t mind waiting for some of us along the way!

We will start at the bend at the end of Willow Creek/Eagle Rd (where the pavement used to end before ACHD tore up more of the road). https://maps.app.goo.gl/epZh5WKfmUUuTzDx5?g_st=i From there we will head west to Emmett on JAG descending Old Freezeout. Water, restrooms and food available at the Stinker store there. Then we will head out along the canal and then east on Frozen Dog Rd to HSB where we can refuel again. Then we climb old Hwy 55 to Pearl Rd and back to Willow Creek. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/52543980

The weather 10 days out looks decent, but we will have to see how it plays out. Let’s plan on rolling by 0930, hopefully it will be reasonably comfortable by then.

Let me know if you have questions or suggestions. I’ve done the parts to Emmett and Pearl Rd, but I’ve not done the entire loop before. Might want to carpool to the start, there isn’t a ton of parking there.
